Here is what my brain is screaming: How do we make the next version of the USA?

I am pretty pissed. This is all I can think of right now.

It is time to put this statist / Marxist / corrupt-elites crap behind us once and for all.

Update: Read this at Amicablecollisions

Is it going too far to conclude that our political class is a greater threat to America than Al Qaeda? Yeah, but it’s hard to see how whatever good they do outweighs the bad. I guess the only consolation is that as I read more political history I realize that this is not a unique problem of our time and that the US has done pretty well for itself despite our politicians.

The above is a great comment – despair and hope tied together – and just what I need to read about now..

  1. You know, I don’t really have a say in the matter, but one way you can could change things is by voting. Naive? No, No, No. Let them win I say. Vote for Obama. A strategic withdraw if you will.

The problem with far left progressives associated with Obama and their various forms (cultural marxism, communism etc.) is that they have consistently lost.

Losing — without being fully annihilated — has given them stronger group ties, stronger belief in their position, and stronger feelings of revenge.

Being a consistent losing minority makes them powerful. They are powerless ‘losers’ only in the eyes of the majority. Within their own ingroups they are ‘winners’. They believe they are on the side of history and ‘what is right’. They believe they will eventually win, so I say let’s go Sun Tzu on them and give them what they want. Play to their existing pre-conceptions.

I say give them the majority, let them have a large influence over the coming Obama administration, give them the power they want, and watch them fuck it up. Much like America and the world watched the neo-conservatives fuck a lot of things up and the core ideological group started to become untangled e.g. Fukayama left, former neo-cons wrote polemics against their former cause etc.

Of course, one could also say they have always (ideologically) been in power. Even the champion of the left –Chomsky — has said numerous times that a large sum of the extremely rich who run the country are progressive: champagne socialists if you will.

What the delusional segments of their movement need is a wake up call to say: you are no longer oppressed by your evil oppressors. Let them realise they have power, then watch on as the revel in their victory. Some of them are bound to go to far, as underneath every Rousseaunian, human nature-denying leftist lies an Evariste Gamelin: a violent idealist who just cannot wait to exact revenge on his enemies.

  2. Hmm, the above might actually be hard, as if you try to discredit one group it could be used as a cause for another that opposes them (think of the way individuals who critique the right wing are automatically called leftists by some individuals). Maybe a dual discrediting campaign of sorts. Make everyone seem illegitimate and purge the idiots from the past from any influence over said campaign.

  3. (Whatever you come up with, just don’t let it have a flag with vertical stripes and stars arranged in an octagonal pattern…)

“Losing — without being fully annihilated — has given them stronger group ties, stronger belief in their position, and stronger feelings of revenge.”

This is very true. I spent 5 years in Madison WI and saw it first hand everywhere.

There was no US Truth and Reconciliation Commission at the end of the Cold War to put a “The End” on the story. The left has been allowed to take over major public institutions like the civil service and most importantly education and use these as basis to survive from.

Fascinating idea. The calculation to make: will the damage they do to the country during this time be less then the PV of the future damage that will be avoided if their influence can diminished going forward. I not sure the calculation comes out as “vote Obama”, but it is an interesting though.

You have given me much to think of.

Jayson: Heh…there are not many people who will get that joke, but I am one of them!

  5. I (sadly) got that reference too.
