Purpleslog is the pseudonym of a US Citizen living in Milwaukee Wisconsin working as a private-sector network/security engineer. Though he doesn’t blog about them all equally, he has interests in IT, information security, CyberWar, national security, fifth generation/gradient warfare (5GW), history, public policy, entrepreneurship, economics, pop culture and the future. Academically, he has a BS in Computer Science and an MBA.
He originally came to explore 5GW in response to the 9/11/2001 attacks and his interest in finding something other then just more 4GW to counter-4GW. He also blogs at the group blog Dreaming 5GW which is centered on 5GW theory which he defines as:
5GW is the secret deliberative manipulation of actors, networks, institutions, states or any 0GW/1GW/2GW/3GW/4GW forces to achieve a goal or set of goals across a combination of socio, economic, and political domains while attempting to avoid or minimize the retaliatory offensive or defensive actions/reactions of 0GW/1GW/2GW/3GW/4GW powered actors, networks, institutions, and/or states.
He has outlined his views briefly here.
He finds it weird to write about himself in the third person.
Che won’t be dead until we dig his corpse back up, stick him on a nuke, and explode him over a concentration camp full of nothing but AQ and Iranian jihadists.
Hi,
Allow me to introduce myself as Laura Lancaster. I am an editorial assistant with an academic publishing house, Palgrave Macmillan, and we would like to use your image titled Burning Money (found on flickr) on the cover of an upcoming monograph that we will be publishing titled Anatomy of a Financial Crisis, by Marc Jarsulic. If this is acceptable to you, please write me back at Laura.Lancaster@palgrave-usa.com – would it also be possible to supply a larger version of the image?
As compensation for your generosity, we are happy to provide you with a free copy of the book when it publishes – just let me know your address!
Many thanks for your kind assistance,
Laura Lancaster

The image is not mine to give out. I found it on the internet and scraped it into Flickr.
I have no ownership of it.

That is a very cool and popular image. I snagged it from flickr, too! I used it as a representation for wasting money in an article I wrote for http://www.broowahal.com So thanks for putting it up. I gave credit to purpleslog on flickrl.
I am a US-Citizen living in Warsaw, Poland. I run a podcast/internet radio show in the city and am always looking for people to interview via Skype. If you are interested please let me know by sending me an email.

Hi,
Just following up as I didn’t hear back from you, sorry to email you again. I noticed your page purpleslog.wordpress.com/2006/11/27/weekend-information-security-links-part-1/ links to http://www.timeanddate.com from here. Unfortunately, that site isn’t very accessible for the sight impaired. Would you consider adding a link to a more accessible version like http://www.thetimenow.com which is WCAG 2.0 compatible?
Also, if you ever want to see how accessible a page is, I recommend wave.webaim.org. It is really helpful.
Thanks,
Shane Buck
